June 12, 2014 - The European Investment Bank (EIB) and U+niCredit Leasing Corporation IFN SA have signed a new agreement for a line of funding totalling EUR 50 million, which will be directed mainly towards SME dedicated loans. The Italian group SACE is an important partner of this transaction, insuring 80% of the loan.
The first tranche of the funding line, in amount of EUR 25 million, will be available for use by UniCredit Leasing in early July this year. The maturity of the funding line is 5 years. Thus, in July and August 2014, using EIB funding sources, UniCredit Leasing will offer finance to SME clients for light and heavy commercial vehicles, with an interest rate of only 4.49% per year (Euribor 3M + margin of 4.18%).
"We want to offer our customers a complete financial experience, focusing on service quality, safety of belonging to a leading European financial group and reasonable costs calibrated to their needs. Companies that will be financed by UniCredit Leasing with EIB sources may cover very different economic fields, one of the clauses of the agreement stipulating that 10% of the funding line is to be used for the support of the agricultural industry.
Mihai Tanasescu, EIB Vice-President stated: “EIB funds will facilitate access of Romanian SMEs and midcap companies being active in the sectors of agriculture, industry and services in Romania. Improved availability of long term finance to these companies is significant for the development and diversification of the Romanian economy having positive impacts on the economic growth and creation of new employment across the country, including rural areas.” SMEs that can fit to a loan from EIB sources must have a turnover of maximum 50 million euros, and less than 250 employees.
UniCredit Leasing Corporation has already used a full line of financing from the European Investment Bank, primarily for the benefit of SMEs, but also for some large companies and public authorities, in accordance with the agreed conditions with the international financial institution.
The leasing company has contracted a EUR 50 million loan from the European Investment Bank in 2008 . The financing line targeted investments in fixed assets or assets in energy (including energy saving), environmental protection, infrastructure (including health, education, social settlements), research, development and economic competitiveness, industry, agriculture and travel.
